I love this photo!

It contains so many messages and themes concerning freedom; is the little bird outside happier outside because he is free?; or does he envy the birds still in the cage for their food and friendship and even a protection from the outside world.

I love the colours and the textures especially when they are twinned with such messages that allow me to look deep inside the photo and wonder.

The story of the two birds is great but the focus has me gobsmacked because the foreground is out of focus... you just have the perfect band of clarity encompasing the birds and its caged in by the two out of focus zones. How?
But I like it.

well the focus was meant to be like this.. because it was zoomed in a little it was easy to manage the focus like this :)

hey! we used to have those birds. "Seeprapeippo" in finnish.
Bobby and Jr were their names (from Dallas;))

This is almost painful to look at because of the juxtaposition - the bird above seems unaware of the sweet deal he has compared to those below him. That's possibly me superimposing social commentary on this image, but hey, that's when you know you've done good photojournalism.

In other words, I really like this shot for what it says and how it's set up. Well-done.
